I've tried and tried to land an economic development or related job in Coshocton County for I don't know how long now and have never recieved an interview. I have an impressive resume (or so I'm told by most business pros) but for some reason this isn't noticed back home. I have had similar problems getting interviews for similar kinds of jobs here in the Columbus area as well. Due to this I've vowed several times never to apply for another one...well I'm at it again.
This time I'm applying for the position of "Director of Regional Planning" in Coshocton County. I meet and exceed all of the requirements. I want to help my hometown revive itself but the powers that be so far have been unwilling to offer me a chance at doing that. This job would mean a small paycut for me but I think it'd be worth it. I know the area, I know a lot of the people, and I think I could really make a difference.
We'll have to wait and see how things fall out. All resume's for this job are supposed to be in by no later than April 11th (the ad says 2006 but I think it's supposed to say 2007). Keep your fingers crossed...hopefully I'll get at least an interview. They really need to better embrace younger people when it comes to public employment in most parts of Southeastern Ohio. So far most places still seem hesitant to do that.
