Coshocton County Water System

I was re-reading the economic development plan for Coshocton County today and noticed the plan for a county-wide water system. I have been saying that the City of Coshocton should be the regional water authority for a while now but after reading the plan as it was in the economic development plan I changed my mind.

What they are proposing is a county-wide system operated by the county using all of the water systems currently in place. I had originally thought they would only be buying water at bulk rates from the city of Coshocton but the plan says they will be buying it from Coshocton, Warsaw, West Lafayette and other sources as is convenient and cost effective for different areas of Coshocton County.

This plan makes much more sense than the city being the entire county's water supplier. If the city were running the entire thing they alone would have to handle all system "build outs" and that would be expensive and require a lot of time from city officials. I think the county plan alleviates the city from having all of the responsibility and also makes it more cost effective and less time consuming to expand the water system.

Now that I've read this again I think it's the best idea so I will now support it. I think a lot of Coshocton residents probably don't realize this plan even exists. You can find it on the OSU Extension website for Coshocton County at the following link...
